… I have no idea how I missed seeing this video amid all the hype around the Tom Cruise one. Winner of the best feel good quote of the year:
If you leave this room after seeing this film, and walk out and never mention Scientology again, you are perfectly free to do so. It would be stupid, but you can do it. You can also dive off a bridge or blow your brains out – that is your choice.

This movie should be interesting. Regardless of anyone’s views on the subject, Ben Stein is a pretty interesting guy. He’s been involved in everything from political speech writing to hosting a game show, but I never expected him to do a documentary like this. Color me surprised. And impressed.

I was reading this article on teachers fighting back against students posting defamatory statements about them online, when I came across this gem of a quote from the ever-helpful ACLU:
“What I’m not seeing is school officials approaching this in an adult manner,” says Vic Walczak, the legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union in Pennsylvania. “They’re approaching it in an authoritarian fashion….”
When did we get to the point where it was inappropriate for school authorities to approach something in an authoritarian fashion? Maybe I’m a bit biased since I’m married to a teacher who has to worry every day about what her students might post about her online, but this is ridiculous.
