Constitutional freedoms
According to this story, a woman sued New York City alleging her rights were violated when she was arrested for appearing topless in the 2001 Coney Island Mermaid Parade. According to her lawyer: “A woman has a constitutional right to appear in public topless, the same right that men have.” I’m sure men across America will have no problem banding together for the common good and defending that contitutional right. Seriously, though…
…this is getting out of hand. Last time I checked the text of the Bill of Rights, I don’t recall reading:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of women to appear in public topless; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Now, if her boobs started singing duets or reciting Shakespeare then we’d have an interesting case on our hands, not to mention a great circus act.

Why cant a woman walk around with no shirt, as a man can. I certainly support this poor woman- how dare a bunch of Rich white males decide what a woman can and cant show.
I can understand genitalia– but boobs - cmon

Exactly my point. People just love to bring the First Amendment into situations that it was never intended to cover.

I honestly prefer not to see a woman topless in public. However, I do support nursing a baby, if needed, in public. Which in some cases can show a bit of boob. But that is a whole new subject!
